Hax 2.0 presentations streams on October 17th and 18th were streamed live on YouTube as well as on a direct link playable in a video player. We thank YouTube for the no-cost livestream hosting.

Days later, the RIAA compelled GitHub to take down the youtube-dl project, a free software project that allows you to download YouTube videos.

As the organizers of Hax, we believe you should be able to download our festival archive for your offline use or stream with the player of your choice. The attack on youtube-dl suppresses this.

It was always our intention to upload to archive.org as well so you could enjoy direct download links and not need a tool in constant need of compatibility updates.

The actions of the RIAA have accelerated us doing so. In retaliation, we are burying out archival YouTube links on this page instead of posting them in the archives section of the festival front page.

Please download or view the presentation archives using the archive.org links on the front page if you can.

Our YouTube streams are not monetized, but many other YouTube videos, which YouTube may suggest do come with ads and contain music from RIAA member companies. As such, YouTube is a significant RIAA revenue source, so we'd encourage avoiding it when feasible.

We are also in the first stage of appeal regarding our playing of the public domain Open Goldberg Variations prior to and between presentations on 2020-10-17, which was flagged by YouTube's content ID system. Two copyright holders have already recognized our claim and withdrawn. A 3rd claim is outstanding and will be automatically in our favour after 30 days. Stay tuned for an update!
